Bay Minette is the county seat of Baldwin County and an important transportation point in northern Baldwin County. Unlike the resort communities farther south, the city has a more local, civic, and outdoor character, while its position along the AL-59 and US-31 corridors makes it an important connection between Interstate 65, the Gulf Coast, and communities toward Brewton and Florida. 

The city is also close to outdoor destinations such as Historic Blakeley State Park and the surrounding Mobile-Tensaw Delta region, giving schools, nature groups, families, and community organizations reasons to travel through and around the area. Bay Minette’s location also places it roughly 17 miles from Loxley and Interstate 10, making it useful for groups combining northern Baldwin County with Mobile or the Gulf Coast.
